    Easter and Spring

    I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! It was such a beautiful day here on the farm. I admit, it was something of a sad Easter for me. It’s the first time I can remember that I didn’t go to church to celebrate. Brandon had to work, and I am not comfortable taking both boys to church by myself. Because of sensory issues and anxiety, one of them needs an adult constantly helping him regulate during church and almost always has to be taken out of the service at some point. I desperately want to find a church with a great children’s program where I can feel comfortable just letting…

    Goodbye, miserable March. Hello, sweet April!

    I am so glad that April has arrived with sunshine, dandelions, and carpets of purple deadnettle! Some may see them as weeds, but I see them as beautiful gifts of spring. Spring “weeds” are as nourishing as they are beautiful, providing those first early greens after a winter of stored root veggies and canned goods. They are a welcome sight after a miserable, cold March. March was difficult all around. Brandon had to go to Alabama for five weeks, leaving me to manage the farm for the first time by myself. I am grateful that we decided to hold off on adding more animals beforehand, because I had my hands full…
